Galatasaray rejects Ibrahimovic

A senior official of the Turkish football club, Galatasaray, has dismissed talks about attempts to acquire Paris Saint-Germain’s Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"We do not have any transfer on our agenda and we have not held any talks for his transfer," Galatasaray Chairman Dursun Ozbek told reporters after his team's executive board meeting at the Halic Congress Center in Istanbul on Tuesday.

"We made no such attempt; what is being said is not our club's view and we did not have any talks," Ozbek said, adding that the club would also issue a statement in this regard.

His remarks came two days after the Swedish newspaper, Aftonbladet, claimed that Ibrahimovic had agreed personal terms with Istanbul-based Galatasaray.

The newspaper also said that Ibrahimovic, regarded as one of the world's top strikers, was expected to undergo medical checks on Thursday.

Asked about Inter Milan's Chilean player Gary Medel, Ozbek confirmed that negotiations were under way with Medel.
