Sipilä We must help asylum seekers arriving in Europe

Sipilä We must help asylum seekers arriving in Europe

The despair of asylum seekers arriving to the shores Of Southern Europe is real, and the arrivals need our help, Prime Minister Juha Sipilä = Centre = stated in Jyväskyla on Wednesday. Sipilä revealed that the ministerial group of the Centre Party discussed the implications of the Mediterranean migrant crisis for Finland on several occasions. The number of asylum seekers arriving in Finland is growing rapidly, and we must be prepared. This warrants a broad social and value debate  he stated. Finns, Sipilä emphasised, must realise that the arrivals are not economic refugees but are truly fleeing war and unrest. His comments were echoed By Matti Vanhanen, the chairperson of the Centre Parliamentary Group The emergency has reached New proportions. For Germany, it's a question of roughly 600,000—700,000 asylum seekers per year. You Don't have to be a fortune teller to say that also the Numbers in Finland will rise to a level we're not used to.
We have to adopt a way of thinking that we must help people fleeing war in a new crisis such as this  he said,

European Commissioner Christos Stylianides praises aid workers who lost their lives
The European Union is committed to protecting humanitarian workers and supports World Humanitarian Day every year on Aug.19, the EU said in a press release

Today marks the day in 2003 when 22 humanitarians lost their lives in the bombing of the UN Headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq. Saving lives should not cost lives. This is why on World Humanitarian Day we commemorate the brave women and men who died whilst in humanitarian service. Today, we honor humanitarian workers who continue to risk their lives as they help people who suffer,” Christos Stylianides, EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, said in a statement.
Their selfless efforts are an inspiration to us all. Humanitarian crises are more

devastating than ever before with an increase in the number of natural disasters and conflicts. The needs of victims are real and lives are in danger,: he added.
Ongoing conflicts and insecurity hamper the delivery of humanitarian aid. This prevents millions of people from receiving life-saving assistance. Unfortunately there's an alarming trend of increased violence against aid workers and violations of International Humanitarian Law. In 2014, over 300 aid workers were attacked, kidnapped or killed, Stylianides concluded.
The European Union as a whole has provided humanitarian aid for more than 40 years and is, together with its member states, today the world's largest donor of humanitarian aid, according to the EU’s information.

Turkey AK Party, CHP leaders meet in coalition talks

Turkey AK Party, CHP leaders meet in coalition talks

The meeting between leaders of Justice and Development (AK) Party and the Republican People's Party (CHP) as part of a bid to form a coalition government ended late Monday.
The meeting between Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu took place at the Prime Ministry in Ankara and lasted for over 4 hours.
The AK Party's Culture Minister Omer Celik and Haluk Koc, the CHP's deputy chairman and spokesman, were also present at the meeting.
"The two leaders made various evaluations in the broadest spectrum in a move not to leave the country without a government," Celik told reporters in Ankara.
"Nothing is agreed unless everything is agreed," Celik said.
He said the leaders would make a final decision on Thursday or Friday over formation of a possible AK Party-CHP coalition government.
Koc said his party's aim was to facilitate "the formation of a coalition responsibility" which he said would contribute into "overcoming multidimensional issues".
Monday's meeting came after the two parties ended a series of "exploratory" talks over forming a coalition that began on July 24 .
Earlier talks between the AK party and the CHP have lasted for 35 hours during five separate sessions until August 3.
In the case that the August 23 deadline expires without a government, either President Recep Tayyip Erdogan or the parliament may decide to hold a new election.
If Erdogan issues the decision, the polling is supposed to be held in the first Sunday following a 90 day period starting from the end of the first deadline.
In the current set of circumstances, this scenario suggests renewed polling in November.
However, if the parliament makes the decision for a new election, then the Supreme Election Board can reduce the 90 day period by as much as half.
The last coalition talks in Turkey were made 16 years ago, when the Democratic Left Party (DSP) of the late premier Bulent Ecevit failed to win the majority at the general election on April 18, 1999.
Since 2002, the AK Party won three general elections to continue a single-party rule for well over a decade, which ended after the June 7 elections this year produced no majority government.

President Barack Obama

President Barack Obama

Barack H. Obama is the 44th President of the United States.

His story is the American story — values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead, and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others.
With a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas, President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He was raised with help from his grandfather, who served in Patton's army, and his grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle management at a bank.

After working his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans, President Obama moved to Chicago, where he worked with a group of churches to help rebuild communities devastated by the closure of local steel plants.
He went on to attend law school, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Upon graduation, he returned to Chicago to help lead a voter registration drive, teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago, and remain active in his community.
President Obama's years of public service are based around his unwavering belief in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose. In the Illinois State Senate, he passed the first major ethics reform in 25 years, cut taxes for working families, and expanded health care for children and their parents. As a United States Senator, he reached across the aisle to pass groundbreaking lobbying reform, lock up the world's most dangerous weapons, and bring transparency to government by putting federal spending online.

He was elected the 44th President of the United States on November 4, 2008, and sworn in on January 20, 2009. After being re-elected in 2012, President Obama is currently serving his second and final term, which will end in January 2017. See photos from the President's second inauguration here.

At least 230 people, including 60 Syrian Christians have been abducted by ISIS in Homs province

SIS militants reportedly abducted at least 230 people including 60 Syrian Christians after they took control of  the town of al Quaryatayn in Homs province, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

Many children and women are among the Christians held hostage, according to the UK-based observatory.

The town of al Quaryatayn was captured overnight by ISIS after they were involved in heavy clashes against Syrian troops, which involved a number of suicide bombing assaults on several military checkpoints.

The town, which is the biggest capture by ISIS militants in Syria since the capture of Palmyra in May, is located in a strategic position near a road that connects the ancient city directly to the Qalamoun Mountains, along the border with Lebanon.

The insurgency is known to commit mass punishments against those who do not comply with their restrictions and regulations, including members of religious minorities and Sunni Muslims.

Galatasaray rejects Ibrahimovic

Galatasaray rejects Ibrahimovic
A senior official of the Turkish football club, Galatasaray, has dismissed talks about attempts to acquire Paris Saint-Germain’s Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"We do not have any transfer on our agenda and we have not held any talks for his transfer," Galatasaray Chairman Dursun Ozbek told reporters after his team's executive board meeting at the Halic Congress Center in Istanbul on Tuesday.

"We made no such attempt; what is being said is not our club's view and we did not have any talks," Ozbek said, adding that the club would also issue a statement in this regard.

His remarks came two days after the Swedish newspaper, Aftonbladet, claimed that Ibrahimovic had agreed personal terms with Istanbul-based Galatasaray.

The newspaper also said that Ibrahimovic, regarded as one of the world's top strikers, was expected to undergo medical checks on Thursday.

Asked about Inter Milan's Chilean player Gary Medel, Ozbek confirmed that negotiations were under way with Medel.

Ferguson’s legacy: Opened eyes, less trust, more questions for police

Perhaps it’s human nature to try to salvage something good from tragedy.
A few days ago, in the middle of trims and styles and weaves at Joey Cuts, the primarily African-American barbershop at 18th and Vine streets, employees and clients pondered the question of whether any lasting good has come out of the protests, riots and investigations in Ferguson, Mo. “No,” snapped stylist LaDonna Adams about whether Ferguson had helped improve matters between police and black people. “It’s made it even worse. How many other people have died since then? It seems like it’s made them (police) more aggressive.
